Fargo's Treatment Options
Dental technology continuously improves, and you’ll always get the most comfortable and effective treatments at Fargo Orthodontics.
Dr. David Duevel, Dr. Michael Keim, and the team at Fargo Orthodontics are dedicated to providing you with the most up-to-date treatment options available.
Clear Aligners
Unlike traditional braces, this kind of orthodontic treatment doesn’t rely on a system of metal or ceramic brackets and wires.
The clear aligner system comes as a series of custom clear trays that are removable and nearly invisible.
This is perfect for Fargo Orthodontics patients who want a more subtle treatment option.
How Clear Aligners Work
Ideally, the only time you should take your aligners out is for eating and brushing. Each clear aligner is created a little differently, so that each time you switch aligners, your teeth move a little more.
For effective and efficient treatment and the best smile results, Dr. Duevel & Dr. Keim recommend wearing your Spark clear aligners for 22 hours a day during the one to two-week period of treatment with each aligner.
Clear Braces
At Fargo Orthodontics, we’re proud to offer clear braces to our Fargo area patients. Clear braces, also known as ceramic or tooth-colored braces, use the same parts as traditional braces.
But, instead of metal, the brackets on the front side of the teeth are made of see-through ceramic material.
Dr. Duevel & Dr. Keim typically recommend these for adult and older teen patients since they can sometimes be more fragile and slightly more expensive.
Metal & Gold Braces
Most patients we treat at Fargo Orthodontics choose either traditional metal or gold braces to straighten their teeth.
Metal braces are the most common type of orthodontic treatment, but you have other options.
After your first free consultation, Dr. Duevel & Dr. Keim will talk to you about which treatment would suit you based on your unique needs and smile goals.

Metal Braces & More
Most patients we treat at Fargo Orthodontics choose traditional metal braces to straighten their teeth. Metal braces are the most common type of orthodontic treatment, but you have other options.
After your first free consultation, Dr. Duevel and Dr. Keim will talk to you about which treatment would be right for you based on your unique needs and smile goals.
Which Treatment Is Right for You?
At your first free consultation, Dr. Duevel & Dr. Keim will assess your teeth, gums, and jaw to determine whether your orthodontic issues are minor, moderate, or severe.
After this exam, he will talk to you about your smile goals and your budget. You’ll hear our honest advice about which treatments will help correct your oral issues.
Fixed vs. Removable Appliances
At Fargo Orthodontics, patients should be well-informed about their treatment. It’s important to understand the difference between fixed and removable appliances.
Fixed appliances, like metal, gold, and ceramic braces, attach to your teeth and aren’t taken off until you complete your treatment. Removable appliances, like clear aligners, are worn about 20-22 hours a day but can be taken off easily.
Besides the obvious differences, Dr. Duevel & Dr. Keim use clear Aligners to treat mild to moderate orthodontic problems. We generally use fixed appliances at Fargo Orthodontics for severe and comprehensive treatment.
